5-Star Hotel Bedrooms: How to Recreate the Experience at Home

Just like the saying goes…all good things must come to an end and at some point during a holiday, we find ourselves slowly creeping into that all too familiar sad feeling that envelopes us just as the holiday comes to an end.

The carefree nights, sampling of local delicacies, the typical tourist behavior, and of course, the hotel room, it’s everything you wished your bedroom back home to be.  Soon enough, it will be locked away in the memories of a distant past, but does it really have to be that way? What if you could bring that five-star experience home and make every morning feel like a getaway?

While I may not be able to help with the daily breakfast spread that signals a brand-new day of holiday indulgence, I’d certainly be happy to help you bring home that hotel room vibe right into your bedroom.

Read on, as I share quick tips to help you revamp your bedroom to a Zen oasis.

1.   Invest in Quality Bedding.

One thing we always remember about our hotel stay is the incredible sleep we had and just how plush and comfortable the bed was that had us sleeping like a baby.

Hotels are big on wellness and understand that our sleep quality and duration are tied to our general health and well-being, for this reason, they invest a significant amount of their resources in creating a room that is restful, serene, and calm.

To replicate this in your bedroom, ascertain if your mattress is still in good shape, if it’s over 7 years old, it might be time for a replacement. You will need cotton bed sheets with a thread count of at least 400.   Percale sheets are the first choice for hotel bedding. However, any bedding with a high thread count, which feels very soft to the touch, and is best for your skin, not forgetting your pocket too, does the trick.

Crisp white sheets, instantly evoke the luxury of high-end hotel rooms. While you should go for whatever color suits your fancy, a choice of white, creates a cloud-like heavenly cocoon.

Round off your bedding expedition with a few pillows. I recommend adding 4 to 5 pillows for a Queen or King-sized Bed. You can prop two of these against the bed frame, don’t forget to throw in a few decorative ones for visual impact.

There! you have just completed the first step in bringing that “hotel bed feeling” home.
