Inside the Abuja Hotel Expo

We had just 13 hours.

Two spaces, a hotel lobby and a guest room, each designed to echo the mood of a world-class boutique hotel. No banners, no roll-ups. Just texture, lighting, fragrance, and the kind of quiet detail that says, “This space was designed to be remembered.”

We started at 8 PM. By the time I left at 1 AM, the team was still setting up layering, tweaking. They worked through the night.

At one point, I really wondered how long it takes for wallpaper to go up, or did we get a batch, that won’t take to the adhesive? It was beginning to feel like we were on a design game show; every second on the clock hurt.

What began as a sketch in Lagos became a fully realized brand moment in Abuja.

Every element had to do more than look good. It had to say something.

RAE  is our new line of design-led essential products that extend our interiors philosophy into everyday living.

We’d brought a few of our home sprays to elevate the ambience, nothing more. But as guests walked into the space, the response was immediate:

“I like that”

“Is this for sale?”

The sprays were meant to support the design. But in that moment, they became the design.

And just like that, RAE launched quietly, no big reveal, no rollout plan. Just instinct meeting opportunity.

“Design isn’t just what you see. It’s what you sense, remember, and want to return to.”

That belief anchors everything we do at Lighthouse.

(And yes—RAE is now available for purchase.)

What Next?

We left the expo clearer than ever on where hospitality design is headed—and what’s still missing: tech.
It’s no longer just about aesthetics. Today’s guests crave emotion, intuition, storytelling, and comfort.

Maybe I noticed because I’ve been thinking about this more: tech, not as a gimmick, but as part of thoughtful design.
Back in 2017, I stayed at a hotel in Singapore where a robot made my breakfast. Seven years later, I’m still talking about it.

Design creates memory. Memory builds loyalty.
That’s what we embed in every Lighthouse space—hotels, short-stay apartments, and refined residential projects.

We’re not looking back.
We’re designing forward.

And if you stopped by our booth, you already know:
We don’t just style spaces. We design experiences.

For brands that want more than just beautiful.
